| Biography: | John was born to Thomas Purves and Mary Stewart in aprox.1821 in Borthwick Midlothian Scotland and died in 2 Bradley Terrace Easington Lane, County Durham, England aged 74 on the 5th Nov 1895. He also had four sisters Ann : Marion : Mary and Helen and two brothers Thomas and William John at age 28 was married to Janet Pringle at age 23 on the 13th of June 1851 in Newington Free Church Liberton, Midlothian, Scotland. At that time they lived in Nether Liberton, Midlothian Scotland where John was employed as a Ploughman. On the 30th of May 1852 they lived in Edmonston, Midlothian, Scotland.
