Biography:

Margaret was born on the 30th May 1852 in Stow, Midlothian, Scotland to John Purvis and Janet Pringle. She had three brothersThomas : John Pringle and William Alexander and three sisters Mary , Janet Pringle and Marion . Margaret worked at age 18, as a general servant for the Crasswell family in the Black Horse Public House in Houghton-Le-Spring, County Durham. ( Source: 1871 census returns )
